2e2 wins Bronze in the Institute of IT Training’s ‘External Project of the Year’ Award
Newbury, 05 February 2010 – 2e2, a leading provider of mission-critical IT services, announced today that it has been awarded Bronze in the Institute of IT Training’s (IITT) 2010 IT Training Awards in the category ‘External Project of the Year’. The award was granted for the training delivered as part of an IP telephony (IPT) deployment into Heathrow airport. The annual awards ceremony aims to recognise outstanding examples of high standards, best practice, innovation and excellence within IT training.
The upgrade encompassed the deployment of IPT to both BAA and its airport tenants, with user training being an imperative component due to the critical nature of communications equipment within the airport environment. The solution comprised a highly unique and innovative blended approach to accommodate both the unique environment and diverse user base, combining instructor-led training through a mobile ‘IPT Training in a Box’ kit, a bespoke online IPT eHelp application developed by 2e2, personalised training collateral and floorwalking throughout implementation.
Samantha Kinstrey, Managing Director, 2e2 Training, said, “Developing a tailored training programme for BAA to support it as it rolled out the IPT system was a major project for 2e2 as there were many different factors we needed to consider in order to make it a success, not least the scale of the project and the airport itself, but also secondary challenges such as airport security. To be recognised by the Institute of IT Training for the work we have done with BAA to deliver this on time and to budget is a real honour and is testament to the hard work and dedication from all those involved.”
“Training was an area of deployment that we knew had some big stakes attached,” said Andy Clarke, Project Manager for BAA Network Projects. “Not providing enough training would leave us open to criticism from BAA users and third parties, but to overdo it meant significant commercial issues to the project from the outset. The success of the training for the new systems was based upon the development of a suitable and effective programme from 2e2, and how professionally and efficiently this was executed. Training was undoubtedly the one area of the project that needed the least BAA management oversight or intervention.”
The winners of the IT Training Institute Awards were announced on 4th February 2010 in a ceremony held at The Dorchester, London. 2e2 achieved is placement following a comprehensive entry process which included a 3,000 word project submission and a presentation on the BAA project to the judging panel in December 2009.
